Kaiser Volunteering / Nurse Shadowing: The First Night on call(#2)

Tonight me and Christina's mentors were on call till 8am so, we decided to stay the night to see what goes on during an on call shift. While our mentors were on call and assisting patients we observed and also waited for patients coming out of emergency surgery. It was very interesting to see how immune the nurses are while working in the middle of the night and assist and watch over the patients and are very alert at the same time. While i was watching the nurses assist the patients, i realized this is a career i definitely want to pursue in because the nurses take pride in what they do and love their job as they care for patients in need. I believe nurses set a sense of comfort in the hospital. If it wasn't for nurses there wouldn't be anyone to care for the patients at all. While we were observing the on call shift it was very quiet and slow. Overall the nurses assisted about 3 patients while on that shift. After that Christina and I went out to grab some food to help us get some energy for the rest of the shift.
